A$4.35 on special
The assumption I make about Version 2 games is that the original vesion must be good. This felt good right off the bat.
I’m all about narrative. I really hate games that arrest the narrative – those games that basically stop you from playing. “Please Touch the Artwork” is a puzzle game that cleverly teaches you how to play as you are playing it. And it actually boasts an awesome jazz soundtrack.
It constantly reminds you (interrupts you?) that you just learned something about it’s own game mechanics, while the whole time, you are accidentally being taught a little about art and colour.
Puzzle Game
But it very quickly becomes a puzzle game. And, I’d argue, NOT a cozy puzzle game. It actually gets quite complex quite quickly – devolving into its own narcisistic love of it’s own, “clever” game mechanic.
But I’m sorry. I don’t care for self-aggrandising enthusiasm.
While it’s probably not fair to call this puzzle game a narrative, I had the feeling that I was learning not much about art (as it happens) but a lot about a particular idiosyncratic game mechanic. That’s okay. But it isn’t what I’m looking for.
I’m in this game dev game to get swamped in something really intersting. I see gaming as possibly the future of humanity.
After all – isn’t this whole life a game?

There has to be a game out there for Objectman. If you know of a cheap (under A$25) game that I can get, let me know below.
